Intensive & Complex Behaviour Support
At The Star Care Group, we deliver specialized support for participants whose complex behavioural needs require intensive, ongoing interventions. Registered under Module 2A (Implementing Behaviour Support Plans), our services are designed to ensure safety and promote positive change.
What Qualifies as Intensive & Complex Behaviour Support?
Our support is classified as Intensive & Complex Behaviour Support when a participant:
- Displays Frequent Behaviours of Concern: Their behaviours significantly impact their own wellbeing or the safety and wellbeing of others.
- Requires Intensive Interventions: They need frequent or daily support that includes proactive strategies, skill development, and prompt response techniques. This may involve the responsible use of authorised restrictive practices to minimize risks.
- Faces Additional Complexities: may, or is likely to, be experiencing other issues that exacerbate or increase the complexity of their behaviour support needs.
Our Approach
At The Star Care Group, we adopt a comprehensive and collaborative framework to deliver these supports:
- Collaboration with Specialist Practitioners: We work closely with Positive Behaviour Support Practitioners to implement tailored support plans that address each participant’s unique needs.
- Use of Proactive Strategies: Our team employs preventative approaches and strategic interventions to reduce the incidence and impact of challenging behaviours.
- Expert and Ethical Use of Restrictive Practices: Restrictive practices are applied only when necessary and are executed by fully trained support workers and other staff, in full compliance with NDIS guidelines.
- Quality Assurance and Monitoring: We organize monthly QAP meetings for our Restrictive Practitioners (RPs) and ensure that our team reports the use of RPs on a monthly basis. This regular oversight helps us continually assess and improve the quality and safety of our interventions.
- Holistic Partnership: Our approach involves close collaboration with allied health professionals, families, and other stakeholders. Monthly meetings further ensure that each participant’s progress is regularly reviewed and that support plans are updated as needed.
